First Assignment: Black and White Focusing on Line and Shape
Reflection:
For the photos I took this week, I tried to capture everyday items, outside and inside, from close up except for the picture of the house. For the picture of the birch trees and the stairs, I chose a view from underneath the subject matter to show a unique view. For the piano and the books on the book shelf, I chose a slightly angled view to make the viewer look a little closer. I chose to consider the law of thirds especially in the pictures of the house and the chandelier, as the point of focus is not directly centered. For the most part, all of my photographs are vertical. My favorite picture this week would probably be the birch trees because it leads the viewer's eyes the most through the photograph.
Second Assignment: Black and White Pattern, Texture and Repitition
Reflection:
For this assignment, we shot images of pattern, texture and repetition and converted them into black and white. For texture, I chose to shoot the picture of the flower with the lady bug, the blanket, the pinecones and the stones. Of these images, the picture of the flower with the lady bug picture is my favorite because of how detailed the parts of the flower are. As far as repitition and pattern, I shot the picture of the Harvard building, the leaf, the Harvard Yard fence and clock, and finally the school columns. My favorite of these is the columns, because it leads the eye trough the image. I especially considered the rule of thirds in the picture of the Harvard clock, having the focus point at the top. I chose to look across the street and up at the Harvard building to give an interesting point of view to it.
